Free Science Teaching and Learning Support Concept

Welcome to Science Culture Ireland, the open-source innovative education ideas platform, and welcome to our Science Lesson Support System. (SLSS) A free open-source teaching methodology to help Make Science Make Sense.

Science education currently exists as free-floating block topic containing nuggets of information which often favours students with good memory. It can also be difficult for the teacher to include topic integration and differentiation for students.

We want to help with this, through with a new innovative support scaffolding that integrates into your existing lessons plans. You’re the expert because no one knows your students like you do. We just want to help add some "learning glue" to your existing mix. We achieve this by ‘plagiarising nature’ itself simply by telling the true story of nature. Stories have a beginning, a middle and an end that’s also played out from small things to medium things to the biggest things.

Nature is as easy to understand as LEGO. Our free course looks at how nature uses it’s basic building blocks to build everything we see smell, touch, taste, feel, hear or perceive. And we do this using easily procured affordable Stick and Ball chemistry sets which represent the building blocks of nature that are as easy to use AND understand as LEGO. This covers the overlapping laws of nature which can be applied to all things. This gives the student a more intuitive understanding of nature for a reconsolidation of memory rather than memory alone. This adds connectivity to all Science topics through a super common denominator. The key to this is the introduction of Atoms and Molecules, "Nature's LEGO". But don't let these words scare you or put you off. They are just words. No scarier than the five-syllable word hippopotamus which most 6-year-olds can say. These Ball and Stick Atom resources along with our Support System Series are very simple stuff and so much fun to use too. But it's not our idea. It's just how nature REALLY does it. Click the link below that takes you to our 12-part YouTube series which covers how this fantastic resource can help make learning science easier for both the teacher AND the student. Total watch time of the 12 part series is 2 hours with a mix of long and short YouTube videos. Please share and help grow the idea to help Make Science Make Sense.

Community Science Exhibition (Open Source Concept)

Would you like to host a Science Exhibition in your local main town to meet three goals?
1. To provide a platform for schools to show off their science talents.
2. To get local services and businesses involved.
3. To allow the public free access to also see how Science makes our local towns function.

We did a pilot project on this concept that can be replicated in any town in Ireland. We just need some passionate organisers to do one in their own Towns. Let us tell you how it works and why it is important to do. We want to move science beyond the dependence of big City budgets and out into the towns. We want to make the hobby and interest of science self-nurturing and self-motivated at the local cultural level. Very much inspired by the fantastic work and culture of the GAA with their Key word on ‘’passion’’, for the ones that design the balls and aerodynamic equipment, or sports nutrition? Who make better paint brushes and new paints for artists, or lifesaving equipment, safer foods, better transportation and energy, convenient communications and so on. The ones that design, build and make our lives better every day. So let’s give those future heroes a local platform. But what does a local town have for science?? LOADS actually. We are surrounded by science and engineering in our everyday lives, and we think science is an opportunity for the community to all get involved to also show off their equipment to the public.

The Newbridge Science and Technology Exhibition features what every local town can access.
1. Local Gardaí with speed cameras radios, specialised police equipment and gadgets,
2. The local Fire Department brought the ‘jaws of life’ hydraulic rescue tool, air breathers and hydraulic equipment,
3. Our National Defence forces and their equipment such as bomb disposal and robots,
4. The local library with some cool tech education equipment,
5. Local Doctor with medical equipment,
6. Local Vet with medical equipment,
7. Local Car Dealer with electric motor parts
8. Local GAA with Sports Science,
9. Local Enterprise Office for information if young adults were to get inspired by an idea.

You can also avail of what industries are indigenous to your own region. In our area we got to invite some local multinationals and businesses, like Pfizer, Oral B. and Bórd na Móna, and all displaying their equipment and Engineering tools. And all thanks to our local Kildare County Council for the sponsored use of a County owned Hall. More importantly, everyone was here for the main goal; to provide and support local primary & secondary schools who were given a public platform to display their talents and projects for STEM. It was their GAA match day equivalent moment to display their talents. It was a massive success and massive turn out, and everyone has such a good time. Anyone can replicate this. Just get networking. Your local area is full of people with science degrees, disciplines, and careers.

IRISH SCIENTISTS AND INVENTIONS

Here at Science Culture Ireland, we want to promote and inspire Irish contributions in science, and inspire the new generation of growing scientists that maybe one day, you can make it up on our wall of great Irish scientists.

Please follow this link below to learn about Ireland's contributions to science: https://www.ipoi.gov.ie/en/understanding-ip/student-zone/irish-scientists-inventors/

SCI IS BASED ON FOUR PRINCIPLES

Protection of the environment.
Promotion of Gender Equality in Science.
Promotion of fact based education, critical thinking, creativity and wonder.
Promotion of Irish science.

Science Culture Ireland's core objectives has the protection of our environment at it’s heart. It is science that helped warn us against climate change. It is science that is also warning us on the pressure we are putting on our planet and ourselves, But it is science that will inevitably inform us and aid us with the tools and knowledge, to combat these great challenges and inform us on how we can coexist better with all other life that we share our planet with. So let’s educate ourselves not only on how we can be more eco-friendly, but what science actually means.
